Louis C. Powledge Unit B2, located in Palestine Texas, is a minimum- security prison that can house 816 sentenced male inmates. The prison also includes three death row units.
All inmates are required to participate in substance abuse treatment and academic programs. The residential substance abuse treatment program with parenting programs that give inmates a chance to participate in activities such as reading and play groups with their children.

Sending a Mail/Care Package
Inmates may receive only metered, unstamped, plain white postcards no larger than 4" x 6" as mail. Writing must be in pencil or blue or black ink. Any other mail will be returned to the sender.
Inmate mail cannot contain any information on describing the manufacture of weapons, bombs, incendiary devices, or tools for escape that realistically are a danger to jail security or advocate violence, racial supremacy or nudity. No current inmate-to-inmate mail is allowed and will be destroyed.

Sending Money
If you are on an inmate's approved correspondence/visiting list you can send funds to an inmate through the mail. All funds must come in the form of a Cashier's Check made payable to "Louis C. Powledge Unit B2" and have the inmate's name and ID number in the memo. The sender's complete name and address must also be listed somewhere on the check.
The maximum amount that an inmate can receive each month is $200. You can also drop a cashier’s check off at the facility.

Visitation
Inmates at Louis C. Powledge Unit B2 are allowed a one hour visitation per weekend. Inmates are allowed to have up to three visitors at a time. All visitors must submit a visitor’s application and be approved prior to visiting. The general population has visiting on Saturdays and Sundays from 11:30am to 1:30pm.
You will be searched before visiting an inmate, and no personal belongings are allowed in this facility. Persons under probation, parole, or other community corrections supervision must obtain the permission of both their individual supervising officer and the superintendent prior to a visit.
If the visitor is under the age of 18 and is a family member of the inmate, they must be accompanied by an adult family member or guardian to include a member of the inmate's extended family.
