Benton County Jail is a medium-security detention center that is located in Kennewick, Washington. The city once had the highest suicide rates of any other city in the country. Most of the inmates sentenced here will not be serving longer than two years in jail.

The jail also accepts inmates from surrounding municipalities and from the U.S. Marshal’s Service. The Benton County Jail is run by the Benton County Sheriff’s Office, and most of the inmates are waiting for trial and/or sentencing.

The Benton County Jail also has a work-release program. Inmates are released from jail during the days, so that they can work. You should apply to the work release program before being sentenced, as this will minimize the time it takes to potentially get into the program.

Inmates can make outbound calls that are quite expensive, and add up to around $15 each for those who choose to receive the call.

The Benton County Jail was originally built in 1963.
