Charles B. Bass Correctional Complex – CLOSED, located in Nashville, Tennessee, opened in November 1989 to confine Tennessee’s most dangerous male inmates. It currently has a capacity of 749 inmates and is Tennessee’s largest maximum-security facility. A double perimeter fence reinforced with razor wire and an electronic detection system surrounds the facility.
The population is primarily comprised of close custody and administrative segregation inmates. Charles B. Bass Correctional Complex – CLOSED also operates the state Secure Mental Health Facility, houses inmates under the death sentence, and inmates who are civil commitments.
Inmates at Charles B. Bass Correctional Complex – CLOSED have access to various treatment and rehabilitation programs, including substance abuse programs. The School services the Tennessee prison system, where it offers basic education and general education diplomas. The school also offers vocational and technical training to students, which is meant to be used to help them transition into either postsecondary programs or job training programs.

Sending a Mail/Care Package

Visitation
Visitors must fill out an application and it must be approved in order to visit. Visiting is held four days per week and the inmates are divided into groups according to cell blocks. You must arrive 30 minutes prior to the visiting times in order to be processed for visitation.

A dress code for visitation is required, instructing that visitors be covered from the neck to knees with clothing that is not revealing, see-through, or contains offensive symbols or words. Watches, wearable technology, and cell phones are not allowed.
