Hamilton County Juvenile Detention Center is a medium-security detention center that is located in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The city once had the highest suicide rates of any other city in the country. Most of the inmates sentenced here will not be serving longer than two years in jail.
The jail also accepts inmates from surrounding municipalities and from the U.S. Marshal’s Service. The Hamilton County Juvenile Detention Center is run by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, and most of the inmates are waiting for trial and/or sentencing.
The Hamilton County Juvenile Detention Center also has a work-release program. Inmates are released from jail during the days, so that they can work. You should apply to the work release program before being sentenced, as this will minimize the time it takes to potentially get into the program.
Inmates can make outbound calls that are quite expensive, and add up to around $15 each for those who choose to receive the call.
The Hamilton County Juvenile Detention Center was originally built in 1963.
