To find out if your loved one is in this federal prison you will want to check the federal inmate roster on the Federal Bureau of Prisons website.
You will have the option to search the roster by the inmate’s nine-digit BOP Inmate ID number. If you don’t have that you may use the inmate’s personal identifying information listed below:

Be sure to spell the inmate’s name correctly for a successful search. This info will help you a lot later when it comes to communicating with an inmate.
Sending a Mail/Care Package
All incoming and outgoing mail/packages are inspected by the staff of the CI Great Plains. The staff encourages the inmate’s loved ones to stay in touch with the inmate by sending letters. Please do not send anything that may be offensive or sexual.
Books, magazines and newspapers can be sent directly from the publisher to the prison. Make sure that all reading material sent to the inmate is paperback and new or the inmate will not receive it.
Release clothing and authorized medical devices can be sent from home to the inmate with prior written approval from the inmate's authorized staff member.
Keep in mind that all mail/packages the inmates open will be in front of a staff member.
Sending Money
Inmates at the CI Great Plains will need money to make phone calls as well as to make purchases from the commissary. Please use one of the following options if you would like to fund an inmate’s account.
Western Union - Western Union is an electronic service that you may use to fund an inmate’s account. This service is quick, however, there is a fee that is associated with each transfer. The amount you transfer will determine how much your fee will be.

MoneyGram - MoneyGram is an electronic service as well for transferring funds into an inmate’s account. Keep in mind that there is a fee to use this service but the inmate will have the funds available in their account very quickly. You will need to have the following Information handy to use this service:

Money Order - Money orders can be sent directly to the prison via United States Postal Service. The inmate will have to wait a while before the funds are in their account and available to spend. The inmate’s full committed name as well as their eight-digit register number will need to be on the money order.
Phone calls
A majority of the inmates at the CI Great Plains are allowed to have phone time, unless they have restrictions to privileges. Typically the inmate is the one responsible for paying for the phone calls unless the inmates is making a collect call then the individual receiving the call is the one that will be paying for the phone call. The prison staff monitors and records all phone calls.
Visitation
You will need to be on the inmate’s approved visiting list and approved by the BOP before you will have permission to visit an inmate.
The inmate will need to fill out their portion on this form then send it to you so you can fill out your portion. You will then need to send it back to the inmate.
When you are approved to visit you may do so during the visitation hours listed above.
