The Stokes County Jail first and foremost opened its doors back in 1982. It was not until 2000 when the Stokes County Jail saw a much-needed renovation and expansion.

The Stokes County Jail originally only had a capacity of housing 50 inmates and after the expansions and renovation in 2000, the Stokes County Jail can house up to 68 inmates. This makes Stokes County Jail one of the bigger county jails within the entire state of Danbury.
