The Hampshire County Jail & House of Correction officially opened in 1984. It was not until 2005 when the Hampshire County Jail & House of Correction underwent a renovation and expansion.
The original 1984 jail could only house 39 inmates, but with the new expansion, the Hampshire County Jail & House of Correction can now house up to 248 inmates.
Typically, the Hampshire County Jail & House of Correction will only house 20 inmates who are not residents of the county. These inmates will be obligated to pay a room and board fee of $55 per day.

Visitation
Hampshire County Jail & House of Correction limits 2 visits per day per inmate. Visits in the Hampshire County Jail & House of Correction are held on Mondays through Friday between 9 am to 6 pm.
Visitors will be required to leave everything in their car or with a person who will NOT be visiting. Correctional officers will NOT allow anything in the visitation area.
All visits in the Hampshire County Jail & House of Correction are strictly no-contact visits. You will NOT have the opportunity to hug or kiss an inmate. They will be on the other side of a piece of glass.
