The Storrs City Jail first opened its doors in 1962. The Storrs City Jail was designed to be a maximum-security facility, as it had one of the greatest maximum-security designs that any of the prisons in that timeframe had.

Sending a Mail/Care Package

You are permitted to send an inmate a letter. All letters will be opened and examined before being handed to the inmate it is addressed to.

Keep in mind that you can only send an inmate a letter on a postcard. You will not be permitted to send a handwritten letter on paper. If you do so, the letter will either be discarded (if no return address) or sent back to your return address.

Sending Money

If an inmate needs some money at the Storrs City Jail, they will need to ask you to bring over a money order. All funds must be in the form of a money order. No other form of money will be accepted within the Storrs City Jail.

Phone calls

Inmates will only be permitted to call collect. That means you the receiver will be the one responsible for all fees that go along with the phone call.

If you only have a cell phone, you should note that you will not be able to get a collect call. Collect calls will only work with a landline.

Visitation

If you would like to visit an inmate in the Storrs City Jail, you will need to know when visitation is being held. I you work a Monday through Friday type of job; you will be happy to know that the Storrs City Jail has their visitation on weekends only. The visitation schedule and times are as follows:
