The Johnson Youth Center is nestled in Juneau, Alaska. The Johnson Youth Center serves ALL Juneau Borough County. The Johnson Youth Center will only house adults and no juveniles.

The Johnson Youth Center is a medium-security detention facility. The main purpose of the Johnson Youth Center is to house pre-trial individuals and individuals who have already been sentenced.

A typical inmate who has already been sentenced will have a sentence of 2 years. These inmates will have the option to participate in the following:

Sending a Mail/Care Package

Inmates in the Johnson Youth Center will have the ability to receive mail. This mail cannot contain the following:

  • Staples

  • Cash

  • Glue

  • Glitter

  • Crayons

  • Paper Clips

You will need to ensure that all letters are suitable for another pair of eyes to read them prior to the inmate reading them.

All mail will be checked prior to the inmate getting them. You will need to ensure all mail has the inmate’s name and inmate number on them to ensure it gets delivered to the correct person.

Sending Money

Sending money to an inmate in the Johnson Youth Center will require you to get them a money order. The Johnson Youth Center will not accept any cash or personal checks. All money must be in the form of a money order. You can drop it off to the facility or you can mail it to the facility.

Phone calls

The Johnson Youth Center uses Paytel for their inmate phone service. This means inmates will have the opportunity to either decide to make collect calls or they can go through Paytel and pick on of their options for calling their loved ones at home

Visitation

Inmates are permitted to having visitors daily. They can have up to two visits per day. These visits are all non-contact visits. These visits will have to happen between 9 am to 6 pm.
