The Kodiak Jail is a minimum-security detention center for adults that opened in the year of 1984.

Those who are arrested within the city limits are taken to the Kodiak Jail where they are processed at the intake. This is where the offenders are fingerprinted and booked. Offenders are housed in single-person cells and are provided with three meals a day.

The Kodiak Jail is a short term facility so the offenders are transported to the county jail if they are denied bail. However, a majority of the arrestees within this facility are eligible for bail.

Sending a Mail/Care Package

You are allowed to send inmates written letters from home. If you would like to send reading material to a loved one in jail make sure it is sent directly from the publisher to the Kodiak Jail.

Sending Money

If you would like to fund an offender's trust account that is held at the Kodiak Jail you will need to contact the jail personnel at 907-486-8000.

Phone calls

Offenders are allowed to make phone calls to their loved ones. They will need to set up a phone account before they can make phone calls. You can find the instructions here.

Visitation

Visitation days at the Kodiak Jail are on the even and odd system by the inmate’s last number of his Doc number in conjunction with the date. Odd number doc numbers have visitations on odd number days even numbers on even number days. There are no visits on the 31st of every month.

Visitors must be registered at least one hour before the last hour of visitation. You will also be required to present your government-issued photo ID card. All minors under the age of 18 must be an immediate family member to the inmate and be accompanied by a legal guardian that is also on the inmate’s approved visitors list.

During your visitation at the Kodiak Jail, you or the offender is not allowed to use the restroom. If someone needs to use the restroom the visit will be over. Not including infants and toddlers, 3 visitors are allowed to visit at a time. Offenders are allowed to have two visits each week.
